Restaurant Review: UFood Grill

Continuing my review of airport food, I found UFood Grill in the Dallas Airport.

What caught my eye is this looked liked a cross between fast food place and a smoothie bar.  I was actually interested in getting a smoothie that morning, but then I saw their breakfast menu.

Here is the breakfast menu:
Egg & Cheese Sandwich with Turkey Bacon or Turkey Sausage
Egg & Cheese Burrito with Turkey Bacon or Turkey Sausage
Steel Cut Oatmeal
Fresh Fruit Bowl
Fresh Whole Seasonal Fruit
Assorted Bagels and Muffins

I went with the oatmeal.  They have it cooking in a pot and will ask you what you would like in your oatmeal.  They have the typical brown sugar, but I went with dried cranberry and nuts.
They give you a decent amount of oatmeal, so I was nicely full.  I didn't ask but I bet I could have gotten fresh fruit on top.

The rest of the menu offered burgers with 100%  USDA choice grass fed beef and free range bison.
The buns and tortillas are whole wheat which I am learning is not really good for you.  So many people are allergic to wheat.  Here is a good book about it called Wheat Belly.

They offer sandwiches, grilled paninis, wraps and burritos and offer a veggie Roasted Portabella sandwich.

They also offer grill chicken entrees and Chili made of steak, chicken or tofu.  There are 3 specialty salads with chicken as well.

However even better than that is their UBowls!  These bowls are served over whole-grain brown rice.

Their sides are also great and you can pick 3 to make a meal.
Baked French Fries
Brown Rice
Steamed Broccoli
Steamed veggies
Sweet potato mash
Seasoned black beans
Side salad with organic greens
Side Casear Salad

Lastly they have smoothies or Smuuthies as they are called.  These are make with fat-free yogurt and whole fruit and berries.

You can find these in other airports:  Oakland, Boston, Dallas and Cleveland.

So other than the wheat products, this place is a great place to get whole foods prepared raw or in a healthy way.  Now if they just had more organics! ;)
